The Personal Lines Underwriting Analyst performs clerical support to assist the personal lines underwriting staff under limited supervision.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITY
Assist underwriting management with reports, special projects, or any task assigned by underwriting management to support the underwriting department.
Distribute mail, files, reports, and other information as needed to support the underwriting department.
Provide property value estimates using the valuation resources available to the underwriting department for mobile homes as needed to support the underwriter and county personnel.
Answer telephones and forward messages to appropriate staff in a friendly and courteous manner making sure that all calls are delivered to the appropriate underwriting department personnel.
Separate and distribute work to the appropriate underwriting staff.
Assist underwriting management and underwriters with communication to insureds, agents, county personnel and applicants concerning underwriting information.
Communicate and cooperate with other internal departments to complete processing of department transactions.
Assist the appropriate personal lines underwriting manager in preparing reports and special underwriting programs.
Report to appropriate personal lines underwriting manager any recommended changes in procedures.
Continuously work to improve and streamline underwriting processes in conjunction with underwriting management.
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office.
Basic understanding of business practices, concepts, and principles.
Ability and willingness to learn and extend skills.
Team player with ability to problem solve and collaborate with others.
PREFERRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Previous experience in a clerical support role.
Skilled in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Repeated use of PC, telephone, and office machines.
Extended periods of sitting and concentrating.
Occasional bending, twisting, crouching, pulling, pushing, and reaching in an office environment.
Occasional lifting and moving of items weighing up to 30 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Occasional long, irregular work hours.
Travel as required.
