Job Responsibilities:

The Urban Outreach Coordinator is responsible for leading the development, organization, oversight, and execution of all Urban Outreach activities. 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITY 

Managing all aspects of an Urban Relations program including but not limited to: 

Developing and implementing program objectives, guidelines, and budgets for Urban Outreach. 

Through innovation and creativity, develop recommendations for management consideration on how best to connect and engage agriculture with urban audiences. 

Planning, scheduling, shipping, designing, setting up, staffing, promoting, and executing the Doorways to Agriculture exhibit. 

Maintaining the professional appearance of the overall Doorways to Agriculture exhibit and individual displays throughout each venue. 

Sustaining positive relationships with venue management wherever Doorways to Agriculture is exhibited. 

Establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with commodity organizations. 

Innovating and creating new display recommendations meeting agricultural and societal related opportunities. 

Soliciting external funding on an as needed basis to offset cost of new displays and show venues. 

Pulling display trailers (gooseneck and bumper pull) to show venue locations on an as needed basis, including Doorways to Agriculture, mobile learning barns and the harvest experience display. 

Provide creative and developmental expertise to upgrading displays within the mobile learning barns as needed. 

Continuous evaluation of overall Urban Relation program through end user feedback and other methods for program improvement and value added. 

Assisting with Texas Farm Bureau Youth Activities and Educational Outreach programs as assigned by the Department Director.

Comply with the Certified Fleet operator requirements of the Driving and SafetyPolicy.

Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

Four-year degree from accredited college or university. 

Agricultural background or experience helpful. 

Willing to travel as required and work weekends and after-hours. 

Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills (verbal and non-verbal). 

Strong organizational skills with the ability to coordinate multiple tasks at once. 

Working knowledge of the Farm Bureau Organization. 

Valid Texas driver’s license and a driving record at the time of hire which would not place the employee on probation or disqualify the employee from the Certified Fleet Operator Status under the Company Driving and Safety Policy.

Use of personal computer, telephone, cell phone, copy machine, fax, and other office equipment more than six hours per day. 

Occasional bending twisting, crouching, pulling, pushing, lifting, and moving items weighing up to 50 lbs. 

Setting up and manning displays including climbing ladders and long periods of standing. 

WORKING CONDITIONS 

Frequent travel by auto and/or other public transportation.  

Occasional long, irregular hours. 

Willingness to travel extensively during certain times of the year by auto or other transportation. 

Occasional time spent in hot, dusty and/or cold locations with operating machinery or livestock present. 

Work to be conducted in office environment owned or leased by company.
