Job Responsibilities:

This software developer position resides in the Organization Support division of Texas Farm Bureau and supports the company's mission to be "The Voice of Agriculture in Texas" for our 536,000+ members through various IT services.

FUNCTION

Engage in all phases of the software development lifecycle which includes gathering and analyzing business system requirements, evaluating user feedback to test and debug applications, implementation and support, as well as responding to outages or application issues. Utilize software development skills and learn new skills to provide for growing technical demands to support our company vision.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Utilize technical skills to support organizational needs.

Collaborate with team members to create technical solutions.

Integrate Software components into a fully functional software system.

Create web and mobile based applications.

Ability to migrate and adapt existing web applications to the leading mobile platforms,

Manage website maintenance and enhancements.

Code, design, and edit the layout and functionality of websites.

Document program development and revisions

Works with other internal IT teams to complete project activities.

Modify software to adapt to new hardware, improve performance, upgrade interfaces or fix errors.

Assist and participate in implementation of system enhancements.

Provide user training on new functionality.

Clearly communicate complex, technical solutions.

Report status on assigned projects.

Manage multiple projects and requests simultaneously.

Provide after-hours problem resolution as required.

Comply with the Certified Fleet operator requirements of the Driving and Safety Policy.

Job Qualifications:

MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Associate Degree or above.

Proven programming experience.

Creative, detail-oriented, problem-solver and analytical thinker.

Desire to work in a fast-paced environment.

Ability and willingness to learn and extend skills.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Willing to travel as required.

Valid Texas driver’s license and driving record at the time of hire which would not place the employee on probation or disqualify the employee from Certified Fleet Operator status under the Company Driving and Safety Policy.

QUALIFYING SKILLS

Experience developing user interfaces using HTML, JavaScript, CSS.

Comfort with relational databases, ideally SQL Server.

Experience developing or supporting PHP applications, specifically within the WordPress framework.

Experience developing API’s.

Mobile application development experience (Android or iOS).

Understanding of content marketing and related analytical tools like Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Use of PC, telephone, copy machine and other office equipment over six (6) hours per day.

Extended periods of sitting and concentration.

Occasional bending, twisting, crouching, pulling, pushing, lifting, and moving items weighing up to 30 lbs.


WORKING CONDITIONS

Occasional long, irregular hours.

Occasional travel by auto or other public transportation.

Work conducted in office environment owned or leased by company.
