Job Responsibilities:

The District Sales Manager (“DSM”) is responsible for overseeing the sales program and assisting in setting goals for all product lines. The DSM communicates corporate initiatives, procedures, and guidelines to the sales force, and enforces the contracts between the sales force and Texas Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company, Texas Farm Bureau Casualty Insurance Company, and Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company (“Companies”).

Major Responsibilities

Responsible for promoting sales to achieve Companies’ goals. 

Assist in establishing and monitoring goals in all lines of business for agents and agencies in assigned sales district. 

Responsible for training and managing agency managers in all lines of business, including adherence to Companies’ office procedures. 

Responsible for maintaining good working relationships with assigned Texas Farm Bureau Field Staff. 

Conduct quarterly meetings with assigned Texas Farm Bureau Field Staff to review agencies production status in the assigned sales district.

Assist in establishing, monitoring, and maintaining an adequate number of agents in the assigned sales district to ensure policyholders are properly serviced. 

Interview agency manager candidates in conjunction with Associate State Sales Directors and make recommendations to the Vice President of Sales. 

Responsible for determining final approvals in the agent interviews and contracting process. 

Approve account assignments to agents and agency managers.

Terminate agent’s and/or agency manager’s contracts when  necessary. 

Conduct no more than six district sales meetings per year and agency manager meetings as deemed necessary from specified agendas determined by the Associate State Sales Directors and Vice President of Sales. 

Provide assigned Field Staff with insurance financial information needed to complete the annual County Farm Bureau budget process. 

Help ensure each agency in the assigned sales district completes an annual Memorandum of Understanding with copies to the Associate Sales Directors. 

Attend County Farm Bureau board meetings only when requested by a County President, assigned Field Staff, or the Companies’ management. 

Conduct in-depth quarterly meetings with each agency manager in district to review company goals, agency targets, agent training, manpower needs and office procedures. 

Make weekly site visits to the agencies as determined by the Associate Sales Directors. 

Assist estate planning specialists in providing services to members and training to the agency force. 

Comply with the Certified Fleet Operator requirements of the Company Driving and Safety Policy. 

Other duties as assigned.


Job Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications

Four year college degree from an accredited University

Licenses in Property and Casualty and Life and Health

Minimum of five years sales experience in the insurance industry

Professional designations CLU, ChFC, CLF, or CPCU must be completed within reasonable time period after employment.

Ability to demonstrate strong sales skills

Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

Valid Texas driver’s license and driving record at the time of hire which would not place the employee on probation, or disqualify the employee from Certified Fleet Operator Status, under the Company Driving and Safety Policy.
