Network Administrator Intern

Job Responsibilities:

This position maintains and optimizes network and telecommunications hardware, software, and support systems to maximize network availability and performance. The person may also work closely with Systems Administrators and PC support personnel to analyze and resolve end user connectivity issues in a timely and accurate fashion.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIESAND AUTHORITY

Install and maintain network hardware devices, configurations, and support systems

Troubleshoot network connectivity and performance issues.

Design Local and Wide Area Network environments which maximize availability, performance, and security

Maintain operating systems, updates, and fixes for assigned systems

Update and resolve helpdesk work orders per established procedures

Communicate with vendors for problem resolution as needed.

Adhere to all change management policies and procedures.

Complete all training and assignments in a timely and effective manner.

Apply departmental standards and procedures to all assignments.

Effectively communicate with appropriate personnel.    

Report status on assigned projects.

Function effectively as a team member.

Provide after-hours problem resolution as required.

Create and estimate project task lists.

Accomplish all above job responsibilities with assistance.

Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

Pursuing an Associate degree or above in a computer related field from an accredited school.

Good oral and written communication skills.

Good organizational skills.

Good problem solving abilities.

Ability and willingness to learn and extend skills.

Technical Skills:

Local and Wide Area Network Technologies

Cisco IOS/CatOS, routing and switching

Wireless Networks(802.11a/b/g)

Firewall Management

Virtual Private Networks (VPN)

TCP/IP networking

DNS / DHCP / WINS

Linux and Windows operating systems

Intel based server hardware configuration and troubleshooting Microsoft Office application software

Basic knowledge of above technical skills.

Other Job Information (if applicable):

Use of PC, telephone, copy machine, fax, and other office equipment over six (6) hours per day.

 

Extended periods of sitting and concentration.


Occasional bending, twisting, crouching, pulling, pushing, lifting, and reaching in an office environment.


Consistently lift and move items weighing up to 40 lbs. without assistance.


Occasional long, irregular hours.

 

Work to be conducted in office environment owned or leased by company.
