Job Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for assisting with the preparation of the internal and external accounting and financial reporting.  This position is also responsible for assisting with the internal and external audit requirements and other special projects.




Assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements and analytical reports to be distributed internally and to the Board of Directors as required.


Assist with the preparation of quarterly and annual statutory financial statements and related supplemental filings in accordance with the NAIC’s Statements of Statutory Accounting Principles to be filed with various regulatory agencies and in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles for consolidation with affiliated companies Financial Statements.


Prepare monthly adjusting entries and reconcile assigned general ledger accounts and monthly bank statements.


Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.


Prepare periodic reports required by reinsurance contracts.


Perform escheat filing and research escheat questions presented by recipients and State Comptroller’s office. 


Compute taxes owed and prepare tax returns, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting or other tax requirements.


Analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations, to project future revenues and expenses or to provide advice.


Develop, maintain, and analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs.


Develop, implement, modify, and document recordkeeping and accounting systems, making use of current technology.


Prepare forms and manuals for accounting personnel.


Survey operations to ascertain accounting needs and to recommend, develop, and maintain solutions to business and financial problems.


Advise management about issues such as resource utilization, tax strategies, and the assumptions underlying budget forecasts.


Assist with internal and external audit requirements.


Assist with the preparation of the annual budget.


Assist with the revision of current systems or the development of new systems.


Comply with the Certified Fleet Operator requirements of the Company Driving and Safety Policy.


Other duties as assigned.


Job Qualifications:



Four-year degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance, or a related field.


Bank reconciliation experience preferred.


Strong knowledge of basic computer applications, especially Microsoft Office Suite.


Exceptional analytical, financial analysis, communication, and problem-solving skills.


Strong interpersonal, both face-to-face and over the phone, and presentation verbal skills.


Ability to plan, organize, and complete detailed work independently or in a team environment.


Valid Texas driver’s license and driving record at the time of hire which would not place the employee on probation, or disqualify the employee from Certified Fleet Operator Status, under the company Driving and Safety Policy.
