Job Responsibilities:

This position will lead testing efforts across the Application Development organization, working closely with test teams and ensuring product and quality control, while adhering to and contributing to acceptable standards and guidelines for testing. 

Key duties include the development of Quality Assurance (QA) strategies and the leadership of all testing activities during every stage of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), in coordination with IT and business management. The QA Manager provides guidance and mentoring to all IT teams with regards to test practices, expertise, metrics, and industry norms. 

The QA Manager is responsible for development and management of a team responsible for all aspects of testing and system validation. 

Key knowledge, skills, and abilities for this role: Implementation, Automation, QA Leadership, and Collaborative.

The testing discipline is a critical process that requires definition, practical utilization, and alignment with IT/Business long-term and short-term goals. The QA Manager will lead an assessment of the current state of the Testing and QA processes across the Application Development Teams and identify gaps as well as develop a roadmap to address those gaps. It will be necessary to clearly define the scope and boundaries of Test Management within Application Development while following acceptable standards and guidelines for testing. The QA Manager will need to be a well-versed champion of the QA Standards, Guidelines, and metrics, for a successful rollout.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILTIES AND AUTHORITY:

Coordinate and guide testing efforts for the organization across the full spectrum of IT efforts, from asset support changes to large scale programs. This includes test strategies and plans, data requirements for testing, risks and risk mitigation working with Project Managers (PM), Asset Owners (AO), Resource Managers (RM), Business Reps (BR), etc. to develop testing schedules and plans that support the needs of the business and IT.

Coordinate the testing plan for a given project/program or asset change; ensuring all required types of testing are covered as appropriate for the effort; for example, unit testing, system testing, end-to-end, automated, regression, etc.

Provide guidance identifying and coordinating appropriate testing roles needed for a given effort; from small support changes to major large scale programs.

Creates a culture and processes that support re-usability within the testing and technical teams, by building testbeds, test automation, re-usable test plans and scripts, etc.

Coordinate test signoffs at the appropriate times, to move to the next phase of testing, or to move the project or change to the production environment. Coordination with the PMs, AOs, RMs when moving to Production ensuring high-quality products, with no or minimal defects.

Facilitate coordinate testing with vendors and outside organizations, when needed.

Ensures test plans contain all necessary components and adhere to standards and guidelines - test plans contain the appropriate tasks, assignments, timings, dependencies, escalation plan, contact information.

Coordinates issues and communications for testing efforts across the Application Delivery teams and the business areas supported.

Work closely with AOs, PMs, RMs, Infrastructure teams and managers, and team regarding testing processes, test plans, and test execution.

Maintains a general knowledge of scope for each testing effort, including business functionality and impacts, technical impacts, critical systems, and key resources.
Understands the business requirements for given testing efforts, such that the testing supports those requirements, while also implementing the appropriate level of regression testing.

Monitors defects arising after code implementation to aide in QA and testing process improvement.

Comply with the Certified Fleet Operator requirements of the Company Driving and Safety Policy.

Job Qualifications:

MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

At least an Undergraduate Degree in Information Technology discipline and PM Professional, Technical Certification, or equivalent experienceEquivalent experience is considered 4 years of relevant QA work experience.

Experience in a management or technical role that required participation and planning of testing/QA, such as Project or Test Manager, Technical PM or Operation Quality Lead, Business or Systems Analyst. Experience planning, creating, executing testing/QA activities within a corporate IT organization.

Experience coordinating or managing cross-functional teams and tasks, including a high level of complexity and interdependencies; guiding teams to successful outcomes.

Able to demonstrate leadership in ramping up team skillset and expertise in alignment with a business and technology strategy

Ability to assess team capabilities, align capabilities to team skillset needs, and leadership developing capabilities where there are gaps

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

To qualify, all applicants must be authorized to work in the United States and must not require, now or in the future, VISA sponsorship for employment purposes.

Valid Texas driver’s license and driving record at the time of hire which would not place the employee on probation or disqualify the employee from Certified Fleet Operator Status under the Company Driving and Safety Policy.

Use of PC, telephone, copy machine, fax, and other office equipment over six (6) hours per day.

 

Extended periods of sitting and concentration.

 

Occasional bending, twisting, crouching, pulling, pushing, lifting, and moving items weighing up to 30 lbs.

 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

Occasional long, irregular hours. 

Provide after-hours problem resolution when required. 

Occasional travel by auto or other public transportation.

 

Work to be conducted in office environment owned or leased by company.
