Job Responsibilities:

This role leads the other developers on the team in the implementation of line-of-business applications.  As such, you will need to be a role model of good coding practices, automated unit testing, and interaction with the business.  You will spend as much time building relationships and building up members of the team as coding.  You will provide tier 3 support for production and coding issues.  In addition, you will design applications and help translate requirements accurately.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITY:

  • Write, test, document, debug, and maintain computer programs.
  • Execute specifications as detailed by other team members and project stakeholders.
  • Lead requirements elicitation and ideation efforts.
  • Design applications that will implement specifications using modern coding techniques.
  • Use of modular design and coding such as microservices, decoupling, object, and API design.
  • Expert level knowledge with at least one application framework and programming language.
  • Write superior code; mentor less experienced developers to excise common code smells.
  • Troubleshoot application program malfunctions.
  • Estimate task effort and build work breakdowns of tasks.
  • Mentor team to write automated unit test suites for all code.
  • Follow established practices for project tracking and code quality.
  • Conduct demonstrations of code for team members and stakeholders.
  • Provide advanced production support whenever needed.
  • Advanced use of a version control system.
  • Champion secure coding practices.
  • Mentor team to create robust build and deploy pipeline groups for Ops to execute.
  • Drive solutions with impactful business outcomes.
  • Build productive relationships with stakeholders and the business.
  • Provide project management and scrum management and leadership.
  • Other duties as assigned.

TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • C# language
  • JavaScript programming
  • A JavaScript framework (React, Angular, etc.)
  • SQL database programming
  • Implement microservice APIs
  • Object-oriented fundamentals

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Certified PMP, scrum master, or developer industry certifications.
  • Developing cloud applications in a PaaS environment.
  • DevOps expertise using a tool like Azure DevOps.
  • Experience with the insurance industry.

 

 
Job Qualifications:

MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least one of the following:
    • Bachelor degree from an accredited school, preferred in a computer or technical related field, and at least 7-years programming experience.
    • Associate degree from an accredited school, preferred in a computer or technical related field, and a minimum 10-years programming experience.
  • Good problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability and willingness to learn and extend skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office software required for this job.
  • Travel as required.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s license and driving record at the time of hire which would not place the employee on probation or disqualify the employee from Certified Fleet Operator status, and the Company Driving and Safety Policy.
