Job Responsibilities:

To provide clerical/administrative services and support while maintaining the desired standard of professionalism, efficiency, and quality work to carry out required responsibilities.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITY 

Perform clerical and administrative work as assigned. 

Maintain adequate office supplies and ensure office equipment is in functional condition.

Type letters, reports, memos, maintain filing systems, answer telephones and all other basic administrative tasks as directed and assigned.

Assist off-site as requested with functions and meetings that may be held out-of-town, after-hours and on weekends. This includes help with registration, clerical work, food service, hospitality issues, lodging requirements, transportation and document and materials preparation.

Communicate and work effectively and efficiently.  

Keep informed on projects, programs, activities, and concerns of State Legislative Office for the betterment and effectiveness of the company.

Help monitor the internet, newspapers, television, legislative clipping service, newsletters, and other media for information relating to state government, agriculture or Texas Farm Bureau.

Comply with the Certified Fleet Operator requirements of the Company Driving and Safety Policy.

Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

High School diploma or equivalent.

Two years secretarial experience.

Type 50 wpm and proficiently operate all office equipment.

Willing to travel as required.

Efficient clerical skills, a working knowledge of personal computers including advanced Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills.

Excellent communications skills both written and oral.

Strong organizational skills with ability to coordinate a number of tasks at the same time.

Valid Texas driver’s license and driving record at the time of hire which would not place the employee on probation, or disqualify the employee from Certified Fleet Operator Status, under the Company Driving and Safety Policy.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Use of P.C., telephone, copy machine, fax, and other office equipment over six (6) hours per day.

Extended periods of sitting and concentration.

Occasional bending, twisting, crouching, pulling, pushing, lifting, and moving items weighing up to 30 lbs.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Occasional long, irregular hours.

Occasional travel by auto or other public transportation.

Work to be conducted in office environment owned or leased by company.
