Security Operations Analyst Trainee

Job Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for providing appropriate Data and User Security Access and controlling, maintaining and monitoring security access to the computer infrastructure and data files. These skills are also to be used to manage security reporting for upper management and compliance requirements.


Define, generate and review appropriate reports and alerts using security administration software.

Manage security access to production files and libraries.

Assist in the upgrade of security applications and software.

Test and evaluate new security technology.

Gather feedback from end users to continue to improve security systems.

Verify the security of third-party vendors and collaborating with them to meet security requirements.

Internal security auditing.

Security breach analysis to determine root cause.

Assist in development, implementation and testing of enterprise incident response and disaster recovery plans.

Define and generate appropriate security reports for Compliance and upper management.

Assist in the development, implementation and ongoing reviews of security policies, processes and controls.

Provide after-hours problem resolution as required.

Understand the use of Active Directory.

Understand the use of RACF.

Assist in the review and application of access provisioning in the Active Directory (AD) and RACF environments.

Create and estimate project task lists as it pertains to Security projects.

Update and resolve Security work orders per established procedures.

Complete all training and assignments in a timely and effective manner.

Effectively communicate with appropriate personnel.

Report status on assigned projects.

Manage multiple projects and requests simultaneously.

Apply departmental standards and procedures to all assignments.

Function effectively as a team member.

Other duties as assigned.

Accomplish all above responsibilities with minimal assistance.


Job Qualifications:

BA, BS or Associates degree or above from an accredited college or university.

Good problem solving abilities.

Ability and willingness to learn and extend skills.

Good oral and written communications skills.

Good organization skills.

Ability to interact with users and team members.

Good telephone skills.

Technical skills needed:

  • Microsoft Office application software
  • SQL knowledge

Basic knowledge of above technical skills.

Repeated use of PC, telephone and office machines.

Extended periods of sitting and concentration.

Occasional bending, twisting, crouching, pulling, pushing, and reaching in an office environment.
