Communications Specialist

Job Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for producing stories for communications products, as assigned, including publications, website, social media, radio and video products.




Work with key internal role-players to brainstorm content ideas, in line with the company’s strategy and in support of various brand initiatives.


Prepare and produce material and photography for print and digital publications, website, and e-newsletters.


Assist in the development of publicity kits, news releases and public relations materials.


Contribute original content and graphic ideas for Texas Table Top.


Update website with daily content and assist with updating department sections as needed. 


Oversee the Texas Agriculture Daily email campaigns. Assist in maintaining email database for member e-communication.


Copyedit, proofread, and revise communications.


Contribute content and graphic ideas for social media platforms.


Research media coverage and industry trends.


Collaborate with Communications team to produce copy for advertisements


Attend and prepare recap of in-house employee rallies.


Comply with the Certified Fleet Operator requirements of the Company Driving and Safety Policy.


Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

Four-year degree in journalism or a related field.


Experience in journalism.


Good writing, editing, and layout skills.


Good knowledge of basic computer applications, especially Microsoft Office Suite, as well as with desktop publishing programs.


Knowledge of WordPress and Adobe applications.


Good interpersonal, both face-to-face and over the phone, and interview verbal skills.


Ability to plan, organize, and complete detailed work independently or in a team environment.


Valid Texas driver’s license and driving record at the time of hire which would not place the employee on probation, or disqualify the employee from Certified Fleet Operator Status, under the company Driving and Safety Policy.
